BOOK REVIEW, TOUR AND GIVEAWAY: Jane Austen Lied To Me by Jeanette Watts
Jane Austen Lied To Me
by Jeanette Watts
June 27 - July 15
Dear
Diary,
In three years of college, there are seven times my life seemed to suddenly turn into a Jane Austen novel; seven times my life, instead of becoming a romance, turned into a made-for-TV drama.
What am I doing wrong?
Exclusive Excerpt:
Sept 23
The new assignment in Spanish class is to write a scene. I got paired with a guy named Ken. This could be promising; Ken is a little short, but kind of cute. In a ROTC kind of way. Which is weird, for a shorter guy. But it works. He’s got really strong-looking shoulders.
Ken and I met at Starbucks to work on our scene. I like a guy who is as addicted to coffee as I am! We had gotten around to dispensing with idle chitchat and focusing on the project. So far we’d brainstormed the ideas of either a love scene or some sort of horror zombie kind of scene when Mr. Fitzwilliam walked into the shop.
If I try to be objective, I guess he is kind of
good-looking. Not in a ROTC way. He’s more the GQ type. I don’t think GQ models
ever smile, either.
Ken saw me staring and turned to see what I was looking at. Which, of course, staring at him drew Fitzwilliam’s attention to the two of us.
I was a little surprised when the two guys looked at each
other with undisguised dislike. Neither one of them said anything, and then
Fitzwilliam (man, that’s just too much to write out every time! I’m going to
have to start calling him Fitz) moved past us to go order at the counter.
“You know that guy?” I asked Ken.
“Yeah, we were on the wrestling team together in high school. He’s a real douchebag,” Ken muttered.
“I got that impression, too,” I told him. “So can we use him as the star of our scene? A guy being a real dickhead?”
“You know, that might work. We’ll call it ‘a scene from real
life,’ ” Ken answered.
We got our scene written before our coffees even had a chance to get cold.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you Jeanette Watts and Goddess Fish Promotions. I'm excited to be a part of this tour.
