Interview with Jude Randazzo - Author of The Dirty Martini Club

Do you snack while writing?

No. I like silence, solitude, darkness, and the morning. Deep huh?

Favorite snack?

Depends on the time of day. Captain Crunch dry in the morning, cashews with Vodka and cranberry juice chaser in the afternoon, and popcorn and anything alcoholic in the evening with a Metamucil chaser.

Where do you write?

At a desk in my office.

Do you write every day?

When I’m not editing or promoting a book, yes, every day.

What is writing schedule?

I find that writing in the morning is when I have the most energy and recollection of my thoughts. I think through a novel once I have the general plot as a series of scenes, not unlike as if I were writing a script for a Seinfeld television show. I create and imagine those scenes somewhere before sleep at night and additionally just after awakening.

In today’s tech savvy world, most writers use a computer or laptop. Have you ever written parts of your book on paper?

Yes, I wrote my first novel in 1997 on ten yellow legal-sized tablets and later converted them to computer.
