I am a huge fan of Lauren Carr’s Nikki Bryant series and jumped at the chance to read another book that combines characters from her other series. Despite that, this book could easily be read as a standalone. There is enough context that the reader doesn’t feel like they are missing out on huge details.

This book offers two mysteries in one adventurous tale. As with Lauren’s other books, the characters are brilliantly written and laugh out loud funny. The book is filled with family drama, mystery, suspense against the backdrop of a writer’s conference. While I have not been to a writer’s workshop in the past, I felt like I was a part of the story because of how engaging it is. I literally found myself lost in this book and didn’t stop reading until the end. Shifting between the two mysteries was seamless and the author does a great job of interweaving the stories into one fabulous who done it!

I highly recommend this fast-paced, hilarious story about family, friends, and the secrets they keep.
