Mentoring and
teaching others how to be mentors is one of my favorite professional activities.
Years ago, I had the privilege to create and facilitate a mentoring program for
students when I worked at Iowa State University. Now, many of my students are 10
years or more into their professional lives and its rewarding to watch them as
they grew from freshmen to college graduates to entering their profession.
Since that time, I have mentored students one on one and love the connections
we’ve built while also being someone they can come to for advice as they grow
and evolve.
I enjoyed this book because Stephanie provides several ways of mentoring while identifying characteristics that people look for in their mentors. This book is practical and straightforward and leans heavily on Christian principals and draws connections from the bible. I like that this book can be used as an individual or with a group. The prompts challenge the reader to take an honest look at themselves to become a better person and mentor.
I recommend this book to anyone who is looking to learn mentoring principles grounded in a Christian perspective.

I'm honored and pleased that another mentoring program coordinator recommends my book. Thank you! I absolutely love coordinating Joy El Generation's mentoring program and am so glad you had such a positive experience doing the same at Iowa State.
