BOOK REVIEW - My Rainbow Baby by Caitlin G. Johnson
My Rainbow Baby
by Caitlin G Johnson
Pregnancy loss is never easy, even once your rainbow baby has made it into the world. A parent can never just forget about the baby they have lost. This book will help you to gently explain to your rainbow just what it means to be a rainbow baby, how much every pregnancy means to you and how very loved and treasured they truly are.
I received an advance review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you Caitlin G. Johnson and Goddess Fish Promotions. I'm excited to be a part of this tour. Now onto my review! 😀
This book hit home for me. As I have mentioned previously, my journey to parenthood never happened. I got pregnant immediately, had a very bumpy road for six week only to then lose my baby. That was 1999 and the memories are just as fresh today as they were back then. I then began a long journey of infertility and the sad realization that biological children weren't possible for me.
Having said all of that, why did I read this book? I read it because I know several women who have lost babies (sometimes may miscarriages) before they finally get their rainbow baby. I wanted to understand the emotions behind this so that I could better support my friends. However, I have digressed. Another reason, I was curious how a mother would explain this to their child.
This book is perfect. It's well written and I appreciate the insights it gives as well as the simple language used to convey this message to your child. The illustrations are gorgeous and I loved the use of pastel colors when tackling such a sensitive topic. I look forward to reading more from this author!
