Book mail really is the best mail! My physical copy of this
book arrived today, and I couldn’t be more excited! I am a HUGE fan of the
Harris women and Meena is no exception. I love them and what they represent so
much, I jumped at the chance to be a part of this tour!
This book is amazing. Today, I’m a proud feminist and this
book gave me all the feels. But that wasn’t always the case. I grew up in a
time when being a feminist wasn’t a good thing. Not to mention, my family is
conservative. It wasn’t until I went to college and found my voice that I realized
the power of women when we fully embrace ourselves without placing limitations
on ourselves.
This book is unique, I loved that they went A-Z using words
commonly used to describe and undermine our sense of selves and reframed them
in a positive light. The illustrations are gorgeous and brought the story to
life. The book is full of excitement and an I can do anything frame of mind
which I found to be contagious. I couldn’t’ stop smiling as I read this. The
message is also a great conversation started with your little one. This is the
second in the series. I’d love to see it in every classroom as well as public libraries.
I’m hooked on Mena’s books and have already ordered the rest
of her books. I can’t wait to read more from her!
