Genre: Mystery
Publisher: Acorn Book Services
Release date: Oct 26, 2023

"Lauren Carr is among my favorite mystery writers. She knows how to write a fun tale while keeping readers engaged. ..." - Amy Campbell, Locks Hooks and Books
"I am, bottom line, amazed at the giant step that places Carr comparable to significant authors whose name slips off our tongues like, for instance, Nora Roberts. Watch this author--she's moving quickly to where her goals are headed..." - review by Glenda Bixler, Book Readers Heaven
Lauren Carr is a master storyteller who combines the humor of Janet Evanovich and the investigative skills of Patricia Cornwell. She is always at the top of my reading list." - review by Sherry Fundin, Fundinmental, As Eye See It
Two murders with one common denominator. Both victims betrayed Bryce Greyson. How could she not be the prime suspect?
Four years after Bryce’s cheating husband is gunned down, her boyfriend-stealing former roommate’s remains are found buried under a statue at her alma mater.
Declared the prime suspect by both detectives and the media, Bryce has no choice but to hire someone to clear her name.
Enter Sam MacKade, private eye.
To solve two murders, the former police K-9 officer and his canine partners must sift through the clues and the lies to reveal the true prime suspect.
I received an advance review book for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you Lauren Carr and iRead Book Tours. I'm excited to be a part of this tour.
Lauren Carr is one of my favorite cozy authors! The Prime
Suspect is her newest series and revolves around PI Sam MacKade. In this book,
we meet a cast of eclectic characters who truly make this story. Each of them brings
their own story and I look forward to learning more about them as the series
evolves.
In The Prime Suspect, two murderers have one common
denominator, Bryce Greyson. Both victims betrayed her and it’s natural she’d be
a suspect. Four years after Bryce’s cheating husband is gunned down, her
boyfriend-stealing former roommate’s remains are found buried under a statue at
her alma mater. Declared the prime suspect by both the authorities and media,
Bryce is forced to hire a PI to clear her name. Insert Sam MacKade, a former
K-9 officer turned PI.
I am an animal lover and one thing I love about Lauren’s
books is that the animals are as important as the characters, and they add a dimension
that keeps me engaged. Sam and Bryce’s characters are well developed with backstories
that give them depth and explain a bit about each character’s inner workings. Filled
with twists and turns, I wasn’t expecting, this book kept me engaged and wanting
to know what would happen. The descriptions are so well written I was fully
immersed in the story and felt like I was living this investigation with them.
As with Lauren’s other books, this book includes a list of
who the characters are. I appreciate this because I like referring to it while
I’m reading. I recommend this book to all cozy mystery lovers, and I will be
anxiously awaiting book 2!
