I received an advance review book for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you Richard Lopez and iRead Book Tours. I'm excited to be a part of this tour!
Looking for a Leprechaun normalizes that we all “feel like we don’t
belong” at one time or another as children transitioning from child to
adolescent to young adult. I know I did! I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Rich (our
main character) and accompanying him on his journey searching for a Leprechaun.
The illustrations are gorgeous and bring the characters to life as we traversed
the magical forest.
Rich is relatable to young readers as he struggles with many of
the same fears’ children experience in general. Many children feel different
and insecure. This book leads us through Rich’s journey to figure out where he
belongs. On his journey and through a magical fairy, Rich learns about himself,
his potential, and perseverance while maintaining his optimism. This story is
powerful as its underlying message is that individual uniqueness is of value in
today’s world. As a bonus, Rich also learns the value of appreciating his
surroundings and seeing the beauty in the environment around us. Acceptance and
beauty are everywhere IF we choose to listen to it.
I highly recommend this book to all humans caring for tiny humans.
Its positivity and beautiful illustrations will keep your young reader engaged
from start to finish. The themes in this book (belonging, confidence, and self-esteem)
are important during the early stages of socialization. I also love the “embrace
yourself” vibe running through this book!
