Wow! What an incredible story! I love Sam and I love Sam’s
mom. Everyone needs a mom like Sam’s. My favorite quote from this book is “You
just have to live from your heart and don’t let anyone tear you apart. Don’t
ever dim your light, as you should always shine bright.” This quote resonates
with me because it reminds me of my favorite Ralph Waldo Emerson quote of being
myself no matter how much the world tries to change me. I am obviously paraphrasing
here and can’t say enough great things about this book and its message.
In Sam Says You Are Born to Shine, we meet 9-year-old Sam
who is about to go to a new school. Sam is fearless and isn’t afraid to be
herself. She wears bright colors and dances to the beat of her own boom box. At
first, her classmates aren’t sure what to make of her, but it looks like she is
having fun. She has a huge smile on her face and invites them to join along. By the end all her classmates are dancing along.
This book is well written and will bring a smile to your youngster’s
face. The illustrations are gorgeous. Not only does Sam dress in bright colors,
but the world also seems brighter with her around. I also enjoyed the rhymes throughout
the book. I highly recommend this book to all young readers and would love to
see this book on every bookshelf!

Sam Hirschmann is the creator and writer of Sam Says: You Are Born to Shine, and is a true dancer of life. After playing Division I volleyball and working on the trading floor in New York City, she decided to take an acting class, which Sam thanks for sparking her journey into seeing life in color.
She left finance to study acting at the William Esper Studio, which took her down the path of finding her true self and how to authentically let her light shine in every situation. While pursuing acting, Sam began teaching Breathwork classes and sharing her insight on social media in hopes of inspiring others to find their joy within and to let their inner light shine.
