Nikki rushes to missing 13-year-old Natalie’s home in small
town Groveton, Ohio. Natalie’s heartbroken family say she was loved by everyone
and isn’t one to lie. However, when Nikki finds a hidden note in Natalie’s
bedroom, marked with a red rose, it’s clear Natalie was hiding something, and
Caitlin’s killer has taken another young victim.
Days later, the body of another 13-year-old is found in a

Terrified Natalie will be next, Nikki retraces her steps,
sure that whoever wrote the secret note was there when she went missing. Intent
on finding Natalie and getting revenge on her little sister’s killer. Only time
will tell whether she is able to solve the mystery without becoming a victim
herself.
This is my first book by this author and will not be my
last. I love a good crime + psychological thriller and this book did not disappoint.
I am a huge fan of exploring generational trauma through the lens of an unthinkable
crime and the impact that has on those left behind.
The plot is intriguing and kept me engaged from start to
finish. The author did an excellent job of creating suspense while also
throwing the reader off. I did not see the end coming, which is a good thing! I
liked following Nikki as she explored her own trauma while also trying to solve
this case. The author also did an excellent job of world building, I felt immersed
in the descriptions and can picture what Groveton, Ohio looks like.
I look forward to reading more in this series and seeing
how Nikki develops over time.
