ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Kristin.  Thank you for reading my blog.  I have been an avid reader for as long as I can remember.  My fondest childhood memories are of spending my mornings at my hometown public library waiting for the community pool to open. Then spending my afternoons at the pool and staying up late into the night to read "just one more page."

Throughout my life, books have been my escape and go-to comfort.  They have also taught me a lot about a variety of topics and have truly impacted who I have become.  Thus, the name of my blog.

My favorite genres include contemporary fiction, women's fiction, psychological thriller/suspense, self-help, and books related to leadership development.

Milla
I love dogs! For 14 years, I was "mom" to Milla.  She was a Chihuahua and had the personality of one!  Needless to say, her quirks were not appreciated by all.  She was my loyal companion and passed away in October 2016. I miss her dearly!

Jane
Jane entered our lives in March 2015.  I quickly became her "secondary peep" and the person she sat on.  Thankfully, doggie blankets are my favorite.

She was adopted from the local humane society by her "main peep" many years before I met her.  Her back story is that she had been used in a local dogfighting ring.  Due to her sweet demeanor and ability to be rehabilitated, she was the first fighting dog not immediately euthanized. Her legacy is the policy change that resulted.  Fighting dogs are no longer immediately euthanized.

She was just over two when she was adopted and could not have found a better forever home!  She went on to become the "most walked" dog in her neighborhood while cultivating mad corn cob eating skills (I have the video!).  Sadly, we lost Jane in December 2019.  She was a "one-of-a-kind" love and is irreplaceable.

Mabel
Mabel Mae
Mabel Mae was born on February 15, 2021 as a result of an unexpected Ice Storm that hit the Pacific Northwest that Valentine's Day weekend. The puppies were full-term and they arrived healthy.

On May 6, 2021, Mabel came to her forever home. She is a Jack Russel Terrier/Chihuahua mix with a huge personality. She's sweet and cuddly and loves to lay next to my while I read. She also likes being busy and loves her chew toys! We are still working on taking longer walks, we live in an urban area and it can be loud and a little scary for someone so small. I'm grateful to be her "mommy" and look forward to lots of fun years to come as there is never a dull moment when she's around. She loves to socialize and goes most places with us. She's been the hit of every party we've taken her to.

I'm coupled up with the best human whom I enjoy cooking with, slow bike rides, traveling, and our walks through the neighborhood.
